About Ryan Winn

Ryan is short for Rythaniel. No, it's not really, but it sounds much better that way.

Ryan Winn has transformed his life-long love of comics to a full-time career, with nearly 10 years of comics industry experience. He has trained with some of the industry's best artists and has developed a fluid, adaptable style that blends time-tested techniques and cutting-edge technology. He has been fortunate to work with several comic book publishers, including DC, Image, Marvel, Shadowline, and Top Cow. Ryan works from his personal studio, located in Irvine, California, but can be seen at several of the major comic industry conventions, including Wizard World Los Angeles, NY Comic Con, and San Diego Comic Con with more planned for the upcoming year!

Ryan Winn was trained by Danny Miki (Spawn, Eternals) and assisted on several major titles for CrimeLab Studios, including Spawn and Ultimate Iron Man. In 2005, he took over primary inking responsibilities of the Spawn series, penciled by Philip Tan.

He also has experience working with other prominent artists, such as Joe Weems (Hunter-Killer) and John Livesay (The Flash, Namor).

The Darkness represents Ryan Winn's debut at Top Cow, working with Michael Broussard (Civil War, Unholy Union) and writer Phil Hester (Green Arrow, Deep Sleeper). Ryan will support this ongoing, monthly series. Before Ryan became a full-time comic book artist, he created dimensional and display art for Quiksilver and Urban Outfitters retail stores across the United States, as well as several independent surf/skate retailers in California and Hawaii.
